Durante a parceria, o Tricolor ganhou grandes títulos.

Corberan must now bench West Brom’s 6/10 star after Saints showing

West Bromwich Albion will aim to swiftly put the disappointment of losing to Southampton last time out to one side tonight, as the Baggies make the colossal journey down to Home Park to face off against Plymouth Argyle.

That 2-0 defeat to Russell Martin's high-flying Saints was actually the first time West Brom had tasted the bitterness of a loss in February so far, with Carlos Corberan now wanting his side to recapture their best against Ian Foster's Pilgrims on the way to picking up three points.

The Baggies boss might well not be afraid to make brash calls in order to immediately bounce back, with Jed Wallace in danger of dropping out of the Spaniard's first-team plans tonight despite wearing the captain's armband last Friday night.

Jed Wallace's performance vs Southampton in numbers

Substituted off on the 65th-minute mark, Wallace had a quiet and lacklustre game for his standards against the Saints.

Amassing just 20 touches of the ball at the Hawthorns – with West Brom goalkeeper Alex Palmer even coming in with a higher touch total at 29 – Wallace's creative spark and flair was nowhere to be found as Southampton stood firm to thwart the ex-Millwall man.

Failing to also register a single shot at Gavin Bazunu's goal, who had conceded six goals from his last two games before this encounter, Wallace was passenger-like on a frustrating night in truth for Corberan's hosts.

Only coming away from the game with a 63% pass accuracy, which falls way below his season average per game of 77%, it could be a smart call to ditch the 29-year-old attacker for the away trip to Plymouth after such a poor showing.

Chalkboard

Football FanCast's Chalkboard series presents a tactical discussion from around the global game.

BirminghamWorld journalist Charlie Haffenden would generously give Wallace a 6/10 rating after the full-time whistle in his post-match thoughts however, but he did state that the winger 'struggled' beating the likes of Saints man Jack Stephens throughout.

This potential decision to axe Wallace will have been made easier to stomach with the knowledge that Grady Diangana is now back and ready for selection after participating in the Africa Cup of Nations, the former West Ham United man in line for a starting spot against the Pilgrims subsequently.

Grady Diangana's performance vs Southampton in numbers

The Democratic Republic of Congo international showed flashes of his brilliance late on against the Saints, given a 25-minute run-out by Corberan to try and help instigate a dramatic comeback.

Diangana would manage to notch up one key pass despite only featuring briefly, only needing 11 touches to unlock a rigid Southampton back four on the night.

This game tonight could well be an ideal one for Diangana to start to stake a claim for being in and amongst Corberan's first-team plans again, with Plymouth leaking 11 goals from their last four encounters in all competitions.

Therefore, Diangana will hope – if he does get the nod ahead of Wallace – that he can terrorise the Pilgrims' defence further and get back to his Baggies best after an up-and-down individual campaign to date.

Bagging five goals and picking up four assists from 22 second-tier appearances, the 25-year-old will aim to become more even impactful for the West Midlands outfit between now and the end of the regular campaign to secure a playoff spot for his side.

Grady Diangana for West Brom

That could well start at Home Park tonight, as the promotion-seeking Baggies look to pick up their 16th Championship victory of the season already courtesy of some potential Diangana magic.

O'Hara slams Kane Called England captain lazy Compared the striker's performance to that of Ronaldo's at Euro 2024 WHAT HAPPENED?

The Bayern Munich star's poor form at Euro 2024 continued as he failed to find the back of the net during England's quarter-final clash against Switzerland on Saturday. Kane displayed an uninspiring performance in the attacking third throughout the game and was eventually subbed off in the 109th minute as Ivan Toney replaced him up front.

O'Hara was left unimpressed by the Three Lions skipper as he accused the forward of being 'lazy' and 'annoying' on the pitch. The ex-Tottenham midfielder went on to compare Kane to Portugal legend Cristiano Ronaldo who has been criticised throughout the Euros for being ineffective for the Selecao. The Al-Nassr star's campaign ended on Friday after losing to France and for the time in his career, Ronaldo ended up without scoring a single goal in a major tournament.

WHAT JAMIE O'HARA SAID

Speaking to talkSPORT, the 37-year-old said, "He doesn't look fit, he's being lazy. He's really annoying me. I'm worried that we've got a Ronaldo in the team, and that we have to play him.

Smriti Mandhana, the star performer in Western Storm’s ride to the Kia Super League semi-final in 2018, will rejoin the team for the upcoming 2019 season, alongside India team-mate Deepti Sharma.Mandhana, the 22-year-old opener, topped the KSL batting charts last year with 421 runs at an average of 60.14 and a strike rate of 174.68, hitting a century and two half-centuries, helping Storm reach Finals Day before having to return for India duties.”I enjoyed my time with Western Storm last year and I’m looking forward to coming back in 2019. We played some outstanding cricket last year and hopefully we can go a little further this season and lift the trophy,” she said in a statement on the team’s website. “Everyone involved with Western Storm made me feel so welcome and, if given the opportunity, I was always going to come back.”The culture around the team, from top to bottom, was very good and I know that everyone will be looking for success once again. The squad has a good mix of experienced players plus young players who have a point to prove. I hope that I can score the runs that will help to contribute to a successful year for Western Storm.”Speaking about the signing, Storm head coach Trevor Griffin said, “Everyone knows what Smriti is capable of and she was absolutely sensational for us last year. Her performances on the field were superb and really set the tone for what we were trying to achieve in each match.”It wasn’t just the volume of her runs that was impressive, it was the manner in which they were scored that really caught the eye. She was exceptional off the field as well. Her team ethic and the way in which she goes about her training will no doubt inspire some of our younger players, who will certainly learn from someone like her.”On June 28, allrounder Deepti was announced as a Storm player, a few days after batsman Jemimah Rodrigues had signed up with Yorkshire Diamond.Storm recently announced re-signing the England quartet comprising Heather Knight, Anya Shrubsole, Fran Wilson and Freya Davies, and the New Zealand wicketkeeper-batsman Rachel Priest, who have all been part of the franchise since the inaugural season, held in 2016.

'The guys are very disappointed and a bit angry' – Chris Morris

His captain Faf du Plessis blamed the batsmen for their defeat against India

Andrew Fidel Fernando in Southampton05-Jun-2019″Stranger things have happened,” allrounder Chris Morris said. Following three defeats to begin the 2019 World Cup, this is what South Africa have to cling to, if they are to progress to the semi-finals.ALSO READ – Bumrah, Rohit and Chahal give India winning startHaving arrived in the UK with the aim of winning at least six of their round-robin matches, they are now faced with winning six in a row to make that a reality. It is possible that even five wins could be enough to make it into the knockouts, or in an absolute best-case scenario, four. But although they’ve got the two favourites out of the way, they’ve still got to get past Australia, New Zealand, a possibly resurgent Pakistan (who is to tell if their upswing lasts), and West Indies.”The guys are very disappointed and a bit angry, which they are allowed to be,” Morris said after the loss to India. “We will sort that out in our heads tonight and when the sun comes up tomorrow we will go back to the drawing board and take on our next opponent. It’s pretty simple – win the next six and crack on. Maybe we need a bit of luck to go our way.”Captain Faf du Plessis, who before the the match, spoke of his team as being one that already needed a psychological lift, has a tougher road ahead than practically any other captain in the competition presently. He blamed his batting order for the defeat.”It’s a change-room that is hurting,” du Plessis said. “We’re trying to make sure that we keep fighting, but we’re still making mistakes all the time. Today was once again a great example of someone not batting through. That’s what you need in England. You need one guy batting through. And then if you can get a total, your bowlers can try and put some pressure on. But to have so many 30s and 40s is not acceptable.”The only period of the game in which South Africa seemed to have a glimmer of a chance was the early overs of India’s chase, as Kagiso Rabada delivered a furious spell of quick bowling. Twice he could have had Rohit Sharma – the eventual centurion – out, when short balls ballooned in the air off the batsman’s bat and glove. One of those balls fell into space, however, and the other was spilled by a diving du Plessis, to reprieve Rohit on 1.”He was a champion today,” du Plessis said of Rabada. “He was extremely unlucky. I’ve never seen so many balls just fall in different areas. But sometimes, that’s how the game goes. When you’re not playing your best cricket, little 50-50 things go against you. We’ve got to try and make sure we turn those 50-50 chances towards us. But he was unbelievable today.”

Aqui quem fala é Carlos Palacios, novo atacante do Inter.

"More detail" – Romano shares exciting Toney to Arsenal news he’s "hearing"

Reliable transfer journalist Fabrizio Romano has now shared a pretty promising update on Arsenal and their chase to sign Brentford star Ivan Toney.

Strikers linked with moves to Arsenal

Widespread reports from the last few months indicate manager Mikel Arteta and sporting director Edu, who work together on Arsenal's transfers, are very keen to bring in a new centre-forward.

Arteta has just Gabriel Jesus and Eddie Nketiah as his only senior, natural options in the position, and club legend Ray Parlour has urged Arsenal to sign a new striker to add more firepower.

Arsenal could sign a £53m "special talent" instead of Douglas Luiz

The young Spaniard could be a better fit for Arsenal.

By
Jack Salveson Holmes

Dec 11, 2023

“Where they are going to be lacking is the striker position," said Parlour to TEAMtalk last month. "In teams I played in we had four top strikers so I think that is one area they need to improve. I know Jesus is out at the moment and Nketiah did brilliantly getting his hat-trick at the weekend but there is not a lot of options up front.

“I am sure Arteta, if there is someone available whether on loan or someone who is not playing on a regular basis but who he knows can do a decent job, will be looking for options. When you are chasing a goal you have got to change it up front and they do not have that at the moment."

Of the forwards who've been tipped to potentially sign for Arsenal, there are a few. Edu has been linked with signing Dusan Vlahovic from Juventus as one example, coming amid the Serbian's resurrection of form in Italy. Napoli star Victor Osimhen is a rumoured option for Arsenal as well, but the 24-year-old is set to be a very expensive option for any interested side.

Toney, however, stands out as the most regularly mentioned candidate to shore up Arteta's attacking options. The Englishman, who is currently serving a ban for alleged gambling breaches, is due back on the field mid-way through January.

The Bees are determined not to lose their man, and according to Sky Sports, Brentford have placed a £100 million valuation on the Toney's head.

Romano shares very promising Toney update

The battle to sign Toney next month will be an interesting one, as Arsenal aren't the only side interested in doing a deal. That being said, Romano has now dropped a very promising update on the Edu's pursuit of the prolific striker. According to the reliable journalist, speaking on Kick this week, Toney now sees Arsenal as his preferred destinaton over any other club.

It's even said he's "really excited" by the prospect of making a move to north London.

“From what I’m hearing, this is one more detail on Ivan Toney, this is a rumour I’m hearing that his preference in terms of a top club move in January or the summer would be to go to Arsenal," said Romano (via The Boot Room).

"From what I’m hearing Ivan Toney could be really excited by the possibility of joining Arsenal."

Toney scored 20 Premier League goals under Thomas Frank last season. Indeed, a record like that could be the difference between silverware and a trophy-less season where Arsenal are concerned. It appears they'll have zero trouble on the player's side, with Brentford being the only thing standing in Arteta's way.
