PSV lifted their 25th Eredivisie title last weekend and their first in six years. Barcelona loanee Dest did not feature in their final few games due to suffering an ACL injury but that did not stop him celebrating his side's triumph with his team-mates, while sporting a knee brace, too.

In an Instagram video, captioned, "Celebrate Your Wins Responsibly," the defender can be seen saying, "Today is gonna be the championship, man. We have to win against Sparta and then we're gonna celebrate. Maybe have a little after party with the team. Yeah, man. We're going to enjoy it – 100% man."

He can then be seen with a knee brace on, dressing up for the occasion, before showing footage of their post-match celebrations – on and off the pitch – following the 4-2 win over Sparta Rotterdam at the weekend.

The 23-year-old faces something of an uncertain future. Barcelona inserted a buy option into the PSV loan deal and while the Dutch side were keen on recruiting him permanently, this injury throws a spanner in the works. He is out of contract at the Spanish giants in 2025 and will now spend a long time on the sidelines. What happens to him going forward remains to be seen.

Spurs get green-light to sign Matias Soule as journalist shares £22m update

Juventus are now reportedly plotting to sell another one of their players to Tottenham, amid the consistent links surrounding winger Samuel Iling-Junior.

Spurs favourites to sign Iling-Junior

According to reports in the last few weeks, Spurs are real favourites to seal a deal for Iling-Junior as the Englishman doesn't appear to feature in Juve boss Massimilano Allegri's plans.

"Very top" – Sky pundit excited as Spurs make "quick" defender a top target

Micah Richards thinks he’d be a top addition.

ByEmilio Galantini Dec 13, 2023

Playing just 114 Serie A minutes this season, with zero starts in that time, the former Chelsea academy ace looks likely to leave in January. As the 20-year-old's future seems far away from Turin, multiple sources have backed that Tottenham are in pole position for Iling-Junior as we approach the winter window. Reliable Evening Standard journalist Nizaar Kinsella, writing on X, recently claimed that Ange Postecoglou's side are "leading the race" for his signing.

This comes as the likes of Sky Sports report that Spurs are very keen to sign a left-winger in January, with Iling-Junior coming as a genuine transfer target alongside former Celtic star Jota.

Juventus "would like to sell" Soule to Tottenham

There is a rich history of transfer business between Juve and Spurs. Midfielder Rodrigo Bentancur and winger Dejan Kulusevski joined the Lilywhites on January deadline day in 2022, with both going on to be huge successes in parts.

Now, according to some information from journalist Fabio Santini, who spoke to TV Play this week (via Sport Witness), Juventus "would like to sell" Matias Soule to Spurs.

The Argentine, who's currently enjoying a very productive loan spell on loan at Frosinone in Serie A, has bagged six goals and an assist in 13 league starts.

Santini adds that a fee of around £22 million is desired by Juve, with Palace also looking likely to be offered out.

“Juventus are working hard on two important midfield profiles. They had already come very close to Koopmeiners in June with a €40m offer and in January it could go up to €45m with the sales of Iling-Junior and Yildiz. They have never let go of the track leading to Berardi and would like to sell Soulé for €20-25m to Crystal Palace or Tottenham," said Santini.

The 20-year-old attacking midfielder is looking like a very exciting prospect right now, with journalist Zach Lowy also branding Soule a "special talent" as he dazzles for Frosinone.

The Kent batsman, whose legspin has become increasingly valuable, had a brief spell with the Sixers last season

Joe Denly, the Kent batsman, will return to Sydney Sixers for the 2018-19 Big Bash campaign. He was a mid-tournament replacement last season when he played four matches, making 146 runs with a top score of 72 not out against Melbourne Stars.Denly, who has enjoyed a resurgence in his career over the last three years, has had another impressive summer for Kent. In the Vitality Blast he was Kent’s leading run-scorer and wicket-taker with 409 runs at 37.18 and a strike-rate of 145 alongside 20 wickets with his legspin.Against Surrey at The Oval he became the first player to score a century and take a hat-trick in a T20 match.”The Big Bash has always been a competition that I’ve wanted to play in and I’m very proud to be part of it,” Denly said. “I had a ball of it last time and I’m looking forward to it again this year.”Greg Shipperd, the Sixers head coach, said: “He made and incredible impression within our group as an opener, but also offers us another spin bowling option. Having watched Joe’s form in domestic cricket in England, it’s clear he is at the top of his game right now. He is an all-round package that we are extremely excited about.”

Axar Patel left stranded on 95 but sets Durham up for victory

Glamorgan’s batting subsided again as they closed on 79 for 7 with only rain saving them from a two-day defeat

ScorecardOn the day that Aneurin Donald, the 21-year-old Glamorgan batsman, decided to leave the club and join Hampshire, two Durham batsmen making their debut for the club made sizeable contributions as the visitors took control on the second day of their Championship game at Sophia Gardens. At the close, Glamorgan were 79 for 7 in their second innings, still needing 62 more runs to avoid an innings defeat.Alex Lees, formerly of Yorkshire, opened the batting and made a fluent 69 from 98 balls with 12 fours, to lay the foundations of Durham’s first innings total of 296, then the Indian allrounder Axar Patel helped his team recover after a mid-innings collapse. Patel was unbeaten on 95 and looked crestfallen as No. 11 Chris Rushworth was bowled by Michael Hogan.Durham had resumed on 75 without loss, with Lees and Cameron Steel extending their partnership to 94 for the first wicket, before Steel shouldered arms to Ruaidhri Smith and was bowled off stump. Gareth Harte was then dismissed in identical fashion, and when Graham Clark and Michael Richardson both edged Smith to the keeper, Durham had subsided to 144 for 5.Glamorgan disappointed as Donald switches to Hampshire

Despite being offered a three-year contract by Glamorgan, Aneurin Donald has accepted a two-year deal with Hampshire and will join them on loan immediately until the end of the season. After scoring a double century against Derbyshire two years ago, he has contributed little since, and this season has averaged under twenty in all competitions.
Hugh Morris, the Glamorgan chief executive, said: “Our strategy is increasingly focussed on providing opportunities for our young players, and we are disappointed that Aneurin – who we wish well in the future – has not accepted our offer.”

Patel, who has not played a Test, but who has appeared in 38 ODIs and 11 T20Is, has joined Durham for the final six Championship games, and after taking 2 for 10 in Glamorgan’s first innings, he played an attractive innings with most of his 12 boundaries struck in the region between cover point and mid-off.Stuart Poynter gave him valuable support as he contributed 29 in a seventh-wicket stand of 61, which enabled Durham to gain a lead of 141 on a pitch which continued to help the seamers. After they were dismissed in 49.1 overs in their first innings, Glamorgan were again in familiar territory, slumping to 40 for 4 in the 16th over. Nick Selman was the first to go when he was strangled down the leg side, then Kiran Carlson and Jack Murphy fell to Rushworth.David Lloyd became the fourth victim when he gave Poynter his third catch, and when Cooke nudged Patel to the keeper – although the batsman was reluctant to leave the crease – half the team had gone for 51. But before the next batsman had reached the middle, rain forced the players indoors. After a short wait, they reappeared, with Connor Brown, who was not off the mark until his 30th delivery, beginning to play with more freedom. However, when Steel was brought on with his occasional spin, he dismissed Brown with his first ball and later dismissed Andrew Salter. The game would surely have finished on the second evening had the rain not returned with 14 overs remaining and Glamorgan facing the prospect of being dismissed for under 100 for the third time in the last four innings.

India hire Sri Lankan throwdown specialist to counter left-arm threat

Nuwan Seneviratne will help India deal with several left-arm quicks they will come up against in the Asia Cup

India will have an additional hand helping them out at the Asia Cup in Dubai. It would be the left hand of Nuwan Seneviratne, a throwdown specialist from Sri Lanka, who has played two first-class matches. The idea behind hiring Seneviratne is to primarily counter several left-arm fast bowlers the Indian batsmen will face in the six-nation Asia Cup, which gets underway from Saturday.India already have a throwdown specialist in Raghavindraa, popularly known as Raghu, who has been credited by many Indian batsmen, including Rahul Dravid, Sachin Tendulkar, Virat Kohli, for his high-intensity pitches.Twenty-year-old left-arm seamer Khaleel Ahmed is part of India’s squad in the Asia Cup, but they have not found a long-term left-arm prospect yet. Hence, the Indian think-tank felt they needed assistance from. SeneviratneIn last year’s Champions Trophy final, Pakistan’s new-ball pair of Mohammad Amir and Junaid Khan tormented India in a one-sided match. Amir packed off India’s top three – Rohit Sharma, Shikhar Dhawan and Kohli – while Junaid dismissed Ravindra Jadeja in a match India lost by 180 runs.Pakistan have four left-arm quicks in their squad in Amir, Junaid, Usman Khan and Shaheen Afridi; Bangladesh have two left-arm seamers in Abu Hider and Mustafizur Rahman while Afghanistan have one in Sayed Shirzad.Seneviratne could also help India prepare for the Australia tour where Mitchell Starc is likely to be a dominant force with the ball.

Spurs: Pochettino failed to sign £300k-p/w star, now he’s worth £100m

Tottenham Hotspur will be delighted with their rapid progress under Ange Postecoglou, who has transformed them from a side seemingly frightened to play football and labouring to poor results under turgid management, into an outfit oozing positivity, seemingly capable of challenging the very best.

Liverpool and Manchester United both fell victim to their never-say-die attitude, with Arsenal twice being pegged back at the Emirates to earn a vital point. As such, they are the only side in the Premier League who remain unbeaten, aside from their north London rivals.

The football is electric, and the fans are already appreciating the revolution being ushered in after years of disappointment.

TalkSPORT's Jamie O'Hara would echo such a sentiment, noting: "Oh Gabby I'm loving big Ange.

"Big Ange has come in and he's just been a breath of fresh air. I love the way he talks, I love the way he sets the team up, I just love the way that we're playing now as a football club."

And whilst fans will be cautiously optimistic of their blistering start, the former Celtic boss insists they are not here to make up the numbers: "We’re top of the table because we’ve played some good football, been consistent and overcome some big challenges. That’s where we are at the moment but we’re still building. We’re still trying to build a team and a way of playing and our target is to improve. If we can improve on what we’ve done so far then we’ll see where that takes us."

Although the bulk of the squad has been near-faultless, there is still a slight issue with the left wing spot, as Richarlison continues to falter as Heung-min Son seeks to step up into the striker role.

Were they to have someone like Jack Grealish for example, who knows how far this team could go.

Did Spurs nearly sign Jack Grealish?

Whilst the former Aston Villa man might seem like a random name to throw in as a star who might ease their outstanding issue, there is reason behind his inclusion.

After all, the 28-year-old was once a pretty serious target of Spurs', and years before his eventual move to Manchester City, it could have been north London that he made his home had they pushed a little harder under Mauricio Pochettino.

jack-grealish-aston-villa

As the Villans languished in the Championship back in 2018, Daniel Levy hatched an unsurprisingly shrewd plan to snag the maverick from his boyhood club for as little as £15m, despite his £40m asking price being well-documented. Whilst they upped their eventual bid to £25m, it was once again rejected, causing reported frustration from the trickster as he pushed for an exit that would never come.

The Villa manager at the time, Steve Bruce, would praise his star man for his reaction to such a blow: "We understand the human side. He will want to play in the Premier League, Europe, Champions League. The owner has made it clear that he wants him to stay. To be fair to Jack, he has got on with it."

However, it is fair to say that holding on for a little bit longer paid dividends, with Pep Guardiola eventually coming along to pry him once and for all, with a fee few clubs could ever say no to.

jack-grealish-transfer-gossip-arsenal-brighton-kaoru-mitoma-edu-arteta

The Citizens would pay a mouth-watering £100m, breaking the British transfer record and also placing a near-impossible price tag to live up to. Despite that, Grealish has impressed, fulfilling his wildest dreams last season as he was ever-present as they won the Premier League, FA Cup and Champions League, writing history in the process.

To think that Levy, had he just forked up the £40m asking price three years earlier, could have acquired himself a £100m player, is a frustrating notion. However, it is so brilliantly typical of the frugal businessman famed for his reluctance to spend big.

Were they to swap the England international for Richarlison, who last season would score just one league goal all year, and instantly Postecoglou would receive an even greater boost set to elevate his already impressive side to new heights.

How good is Jack Grealish?

"The best game he has played since he has been with us, by far," Guardiola purred back in January 2022. "This was an exceptional performance. He played really, really well. I’m talking about when he has the ball, what he has to do. In a team that is so tight, they defend so narrow, it is not easy. He played exceptionally.

“In Aston Villa he played wide and after he moved wherever he wants and came inside. I think he’s the perfect player to play between the lines. He’s so aggressive, he makes incredible runs, he dropped the Southampton team to the byline, his decision-making is excellent. He had two almost clear chances to dribble and shoot that was blocked.

“He played really well. I’m so satisfied for the performance Jack has done."

To receive such lofty praise from a legendary manager such as him should speak volumes, with talkSPORT pundit Dean Saunders adding him to the list of England's "world class" talent pool in the run-up to the 2022 World Cup.

However, it was not an easy start to life at the Etihad for the £300k-per-week maestro, who scored just three and assisted three more in his debut Premier League term. These are figures he would take to another level the season following, scoring five and assisting seven in the league, and making an impressive 50 appearances across all competitions.

Given the Spanish tactician rotates so often, Grealish's reliable presence speaks volumes for his talent.

The scout who actually picked the winger up for Villa, Jim Thomas, spoke in 2019 about the undecided future of the crowning jewel of his career. He would wax lyrical about his emergence, but crucially ended his interview by noting: "I wouldn't have wanted him to go like but I think if he played for [Spurs] I think they'd be the perfect team."

Whilst he would argue otherwise given the success he has since earned, Postecoglou would surely love to have him as the perfect man to complete his side for now and help them mount a truly serious challenge to build off their outstanding start.

Brighton: De Zerbi could unearth the next Ferguson in ‘talented’ academy star

Brighton & Hove Albion have begun their season in emphatic fashion, notching up an impressive four victories from their first five, including wins over Luton Town, Wolverhampton Wanderers, Newcastle United and Manchester United.

The Seagulls took flight last season and successfully landed on the prize of Europa League football, carrying that scintillating form into this campaign as they aim to go one better by qualifying for the Champions League.

Brighton's meteoric rise on the South Coast has been formed from the humble foundations laid by chairman Tony Bloom, scouring leagues outside of Europe for the best young talent and landing their chequebook on the likes of Alexis Mac Allister, Moises Caicedo and Yves Bissouma, who arrived as unknown quantities, developed into stars at the Amex before being sold for substantial amounts of money.

Who are Brighton's most sought-after talents?

While those who departed left a legacy at the football club, the remaining stars are creating one, as Kaoru Mitoma, Pervis Estupinan and Evan Ferguson were all acquired for low fees and have since seen their value skyrocket after producing moments of brilliance for the club.

The latter of that trio has taken brilliance to a new level, becoming only the fourth 18-year-old to score a hat-trick in the Premier League with the club slapping a £120m price tag on the Republic of Ireland international.

evan-ferguson-transfer-gossip-brighton-tottenham-hotspur-postecoglou-harry-kane-shearer

With Brighton doing their best to scare the big clubs away from the teenage prodigy, Ferguson is threatening to become the latest triple-figure asset to be sold by the club, but he isn't the only talented Republic of Ireland youngster they have at their disposal.

Academy star Mark O'Mahony is making a name for himself in the youth setup.

Who is Mark O'Mahony?

In January, Brighton sent their scouts to Ireland, and they came back with who they thought would be the next young prodigy from that part of the world as Mark O'Mahony left Cork City and signed a contract with the Seagulls until June 2025.

Praised by his former manager Colin Healy for being a "very talented" player, the 18-year-old showcased that talent by being named the FAI’s U17 Men’s International Player of the Year for 2022 having chalked up six goals in ten appearances for the Republic of Ireland U17's.

Having shone on the international stage for his country, the teenage sensation has translated that form to club level with an impressive five goals in his first four appearances for the Brighton U21s this season, one behind Premier League 2's top scorer, Dom Ballard.

Following his nomination for the Player of the Month award in PL2, O'Mahony has received plaudits for his excellent form, with journalist Dylan O'Connell labelling him as "one to watch".

Fellow Irishman, Ferguson, chalked up 18 goals in 39 appearances for Brighton's U21 and has since gone on to show his prolific nature in the Premier League.

Indeed, he already has four goals in five this season – and if O'Mahony can carry on his rich vein of form, he could make a rapid rise to stardom, following in his fellow countrymen's footsteps.
