Man Utd and Amorim on verge of move for £37m star with same agent as Bruno

Manchester United are on the verge of moving to sign a £37m star who has the same agent as Bruno Fernandes.

Bruno Fernandes impressing in disappointing Man Utd season

It has been a disappointing campaign on the whole at Old Trafford under both Erik ten Hag and now Ruben Amorim, however, the Red Devils still have the chance to win silverware in the Europa League.

Man Utd are set to take on Lyon in the quarter-finals after overcoming Real Sociedad in the last 16, with Fernandes scoring a hat-trick in the second leg.

The Man Utd captain has been a shining light in 2024/25 and recently picked up his 12th Red Devils Player of the Month award after joining back in the winter of 2020. Amorim has also been impressed by what he’s seen from his captain, stating recently that Man Utd “need more Brunos”.

“I will say, we need more Brunos. The character he has, the availability is so important and he is so decisive with and without the ball.”

Fernandes is represented by the AS1 agency, and another star on their books, Sporting CP defender Goncalo Inacio, has been linked with a move to Man Utd.

Reports earlier this year stated that Red Devils officials were set to hold talks with Inacio’s agent ahead of a potential move. The centre-back has a €60m (£50m) release clause in his contract, but it looks as if he could be available for less.

Man Utd ‘on verge’ of moving for Goncalo Inacio

According to reports in Portugal, relayed by Sport Witness, Sporting CP want €45m (£37.5m) for Inacio, and it is claimed that Man Utd are ‘on the verge’ of turning their interest into a transfer swoop and effort to sign him.

Borussia Dortmund were keen on Inacio back in January, but in the Premier League, it seems as if the Red Devils are showing a strong interest ahead of the summer.

Sporting Lisbon's Goncalo Inacio

It was Amorim who brought Inacio through at Sporting and into the first-team, and since then, the 23-year-old has been a regular for the club ever since, making more than 200 appearances in all competitions for his current employers.

Inacio is under contract until 2027, and he is a defender who has an “insane” range of passing by journalist Antonio Mango.

    WHAT HAPPENED?

River Plate head coach Marcelo Gallardo revealed on Friday that he personally reached out to Cristiano Ronaldo in an informal attempt to convince the Portuguese star to play in the 2025 FIFA Club World Cup for the Argentine giants.

Speaking to ESPN ahead of River’s key clash against Monterrey at the Rose Bowl in Los Angeles, Gallardo shared the behind-the-scenes story.

“Back in mid-March, through a mutual friend, I casually asked him, ‘Hey, I’ve got a Club World Cup coming up – any interest in playing it? It’s a tournament made for someone like you, who’s left such a mark on the game,'” Gallardo recalled.

    THE BIGGER PICTURE

According to Gallardo, Ronaldo appreciated the gesture and gave the proposal some thought before ultimately turning it down.

“He felt honored and took time to consider it, but in the end he told me, ‘I have to focus on preparing for next season,’” the former River player and longtime manager added.

    DID YOU KNOW?

Cristiano had previously hinted at this approach during a press appearance, noting that he had received an invitation from “a club in Argentina” to participate in the Club World Cup – without naming names.

Gallardo addressed that moment: “It was such an informal conversation that it would’ve stayed completely private, like many things do, if he hadn’t brought it up himself. That’s why it came to light – he chose to make it public.”

This isn’t the first time Gallardo has crossed paths with Ronaldo. The two shared a brief working experience when Gallardo coached an Arab League All-Star team in a friendly match, where Ronaldo was one of the players.

“I had the chance to coach him in that exhibition game in Saudi Arabia. Beyond being a top professional, he’s also a great person. We kept a nice connection afterward,” Gallardo said.

Cost £5.1m, now worth 194% more: Sheffield United struck gold on elite star

Sheffield United will still believe they have what it takes to pip Leeds United to the Championship title as Daniel Farke’s Whites begin to show some visible chinks in their armour.

The well-oiled Leeds machine has come unstuck recently with a defeat to Portsmouth taking everyone in the second tier by surprise, but Farke’s men have since recovered to return to the top of the division with a slender two point advantage over the Blades.

Yet, nothing can be taken for granted in the unpredictable nature of the EFL’s elite league, as Chris Wilder and Co attempt to leapfrog their West Yorkshire foes between now and the close of May.

Whilst the Blades do boast a standout attack, Wilder will have been left equally impressed by his defence making the step back down to the second tier, especially after a disastrous relegation saw them leak a jaw-dropping 104 goals.

Sheffield United's standout defenders

The South Yorkshire outfit were way out of their depth last campaign, with the return of the much-loved 57-year-old to the Bramall Lane dug-out during the season not enough to stop an inevitable relegation from happening.

Now, any lingering pain from slipping down to the Championship has been forgotten about, with the Blades only shipping 28 goals from 37 league clashes.

The promotion chasers have been boosted by the addition of new shot-stopper Michael Cooper with the ex-Plymouth Argyle goalkeeper an inspired pick-up from Devon, considering he has kept a hefty 18 clean sheets across 35 league matches.

Moreover, away from new additions, faces such as experienced centre-back Jack Robinson have found a fresh lease of life, with the 31-year-old winning 5.3 duels on average when featuring.

United did have to sign Rob Holding on a loan deal to add to their somewhat threadbare options at the back, but there will be no real regrets that they didn’t take a punt on Ipswich Town man Luke Woolfenden instead, knowing they have a colossus already in South Yorkshire.

Indeed, the promotion hopefuls were reportedly keen on adding the Tractor Boys defender to their ranks in January, but no such deal would come to fruition.

It wasn’t just the Blades that Woolfenden was linked with, as some reports declared there was interest from Inter Miami, a team owned by David Beckham and featuring the likes of Lionel Messi and Luis Suarez.

The Ipswich centre-back spoke about those rumours in a recent interview.

Messi or Tom Cannon? Instead, he’s still in the Premier League playing alongside Liam Delap and Co.

That shouldn’t frustrate Wilder too much though. Here’s why…

Sheffield United's "elite" star is worth more than Woolfenden

This could have been a worthwhile purchase – considering Woolfenden is still fresh off entering into the top flight with Kieran McKenna’s men – but Wilder already has Anel Ahmedhodzic at his disposal and the 26-year-old is worth a great deal more than the Ipswich-born centre-back.

Moreover, away from the likes of Robinson and Cooper already being mentioned, the Bosnian has been an absolute rock at the back this campaign for his side, with a well-timed header in February one of three goals he’s contributed to in the Championship.

This isn’t a one-off standout season from the 25-year-old, however, with the “elite” defender – as he’s been labelled by football analyst Ben Mattinson – one figure who managed to cover himself in some glory during his team’s dire relegation, with two goals picked up alongside winning 4.5 duels per Premier League match.

Looking at the table above, it’s clear that United hit absolute gold purchasing Ahmedhodzic when they did, with the Bosnian once costing the Championship side just £5.15m.

Now, the 6 foot 5 brute is worth a bumper £15m – as per Transfermarkt – with the one-time target of Woolfenden worth just £1.6m on the contrary.

Sheffield United's Anel Ahmedhodzic

Therefore, there will be no agony on United’s end that a move for Woolfenden didn’t happen, with any defensive purchases moving forward having to accommodate around main man Ahmedhodzic.

West Ham make offer for 104-career goal forward with £83m release clause

West Ham United have made an offer to sign a new forward for manager Graham Potter, according to the player’s agent.

West Ham eye new striker with permanent Ferguson deal unlikely

The Hammers brought in Evan Ferguson on loan from Brighton & Hove Albion back in January, however, the Republic of Ireland international is yet to score his first goal for the Irons.

The 20-year-old has only made five appearances and played just over 90 minutes for the Irons, and there have been reports that West Ham are unlikely to make Ferguson’s loan move permanent this summer.

As a result, the search for another new striker ahead of Potter’s first full season in charge at the London Stadium appears to be underway, and there has been a plethora of forwards linked with moves to West Ham.

ByDominic Lund Mar 18, 2025

AS Roma’s Tammy Abraham, currently on loan at AC Milan, has been explored by the Hammers, whereas Potter is keen on Lille striker Jonathan David, who is on course to become a free agent in the summer.

Meanwhile, an approach has been made for Fiorentina’s Moise Kean, formerly of Everton, but one name who will be familiar to Irons supporters and West Ham transfer chiefs is Yuri Alberto.

The Corinthians striker has long been linked with the Hammers and reports last month said that talks were open ahead of a potential move this summer. Alberto has an £83m release clause in his contract, but it has been claimed that he could be sold for an initial £21m over the coming months, which is a £62m mark down.

West Ham make offer to sign 104-goal Alberto, says agent

Now, a fresh update has been shared on West Ham and Alberto by his agent, Andre Cury. As relayed by Sport Witness, Cury said that West Ham have made an offer for Alberto, alongside Wolves and Real Betis.

“Our job is to take the proposal to the club. We have already had offers from Wolverhampton, West Ham, from Betis, from Spain, from Italy.

“But the player is young, every player who is in South America thinks of playing in Europe and with Yuri is no different. If there is a good opportunity that is good for him and for the club, we will talk.”

Better than Mateta: INEOS make "monster" CF their dream Man Utd target

Rasmus Hojlund’s eyes must have lit up as the ball fell his way, with the struggling Manchester United striker seemingly having a clear run on David Raya’s goal, as Sunday’s Premier League tussle headed into the closing stages.

An on-fire and on-form centre-forward may well have converted without hesitation, but now on a run of 20 games without a goal, Hojlund dallied, allowing Declan Rice the chance to produce what was an expertly timed tackle.

Having also been denied by Gabriel after meeting Toby Collyer’s cross at the near post, it proved to be another luckless outing for the 22-year-old Dane, with his Premier League tally remaining at just two goals for the season – level with centre-back colleague, Matthijs de Ligt.

Signed for a mammoth initial fee of £64m – more than Newcastle United and Manchester City spent on Alexander Isak (£63m) and Erling Haaland (£51.2m), for context – Hojlund really is enduring a dismal campaign, having shown signs of life in 2023/24 after finishing as the club’s top scorer.

The former Atalanta man is still young enough to come good at Old Trafford, although it would appear that INEOS are already seeking new striking targets for the summer…

Man Utd's pursuit of Mateta

Recent days have been rife with talk surrounding United’s interest in Crystal Palace hero, Jean-Philippe Mateta, with French outlet L’Equipe reporting that negotiations have already been held regarding a £40m move for the 27-year-old.

The former Mainz marksman – who arrived at Selhurst Park back in January 2022 – has been something of a revelation for the Eagles in recent times, having ended last season with 16 Premier League goals to his name.

Despite a slow start to the current campaign, after scoring just four times in the top flight before the turn of the year, Mateta has hit fire in recent months, taking his tally to 12 league goals to date.

That respectable haul includes a crucial brace in the 2-0 win for Oliver Glasner’s side against the Red Devils at Old Trafford, with his overall record against United standing at three goals from just seven meetings.

It is then no surprise that the 6 foot 4 machine has caught the attention of those at the Theatre of Dreams, although he is certainly not the only striker that INEOS are keeping tabs on.

Man Utd's search for a striker

As reported by GIVEMESPORT, the Palace talisman is a ‘surprise name’ who has ‘shot up their list of considerations’ ahead of the summer window, with Ruben Amorim in need of a ready-made solution, despite the initial preference for a younger signing.

Transfer Focus

Mega money deals, controversial moves and big-name flops. This is the home of transfer news and opinion across Football FanCast.

The report does go on to state, however, that United’s ‘dream’ target would actually be Nigerian superstar, Victor Osimhen, with the Napoli man currently out on loan at Turkish side, Galatasaray.

As per the piece, the issue is that acquiring the 26-year-old looks ‘increasingly difficult’ due to potential demands over a wage and fee for the player, while United’s inability to qualify for Europe could also prove a stumbling block.

Galatasaray's VictorOsimhencelebrates after the match

With a Europa League triumph still tentatively on the cards, however, that situation could be altered, with Osimhen representing the perfect upgrade on both Hojlund and Mateta.

Man Utd's dream upgrade on Hojlund & Mateta

Man United’s current number nine, Hojlund, has scored just seven goals in all competitions this season, while his positional ‘rival’, Joshua Zirkzee, has only netted six times since signing from Bologna, albeit having typically operated in a number ten berth of late.

The need for an attacking figurehead truly is stark, hence why bringing a talent like Osimhen into the fold would be a dream solution. As Statman Dave has stated, the one-time Lille ace is the “best striker on the market, by some distance”.

While the in-demand forward is operating outside of Europe’s top five leagues this season, he has been in red-hot form once again, scoring 23 goals in only 29 outings for the Istanbul side thus far – as many as Hojlund has scored in total in 80 games for United.

76 in 133 for Napoli. 18 in 38 for Lille. 20 in 36 for Belgian side Charleroi. This is a man who has delivered the goods wherever he has been, aside from a brief goalless stint with Wolfsburg. As for Mateta, the Frenchman had scored just 27 goals in 71 games for Mainz, prior to joining the Eagles.

Yes, Osimhen boasts no prior Premier League experience, but it would be hard to bet against him delivering should he make the move to Manchester.

Described as a “monster” by analyst Ben Mattinson, the Lagos native is a true centre-forward in every sense of the forward, as shown by the fact that he ranks in the top 1% among his European peers for touches inside the attacking penalty area per 90, across the last 365 days.

Not just a poacher supreme, Osimhen is also a “beast in the air” and boasts “insane movement” – according to Mattinson – thus possessing all the attributes to make him a perfect fit in Amorim’s 3-4-3 system.

Mateta vs Osimhen

Reportedly available for roughly £62m this summer, the Napoli outcast does appear reasonably priced considering his remarkable scoring rate in his career so far, with it perhaps time for United to truly land a striker who is at the peak of their powers.

Big Doucoure upgrade: Everton close in on signing "fearless" star for Moyes

The January transfer window is set to slam shut on Monday of next week and this means that Everton do not have much time left to make signings to bolster their squad.

David Moyes was brought in for a second spell at Goodison Park earlier this month, replacing Sean Dyche in the dugout, and is yet to make his first addition.

Everton manager DavidMoyes on the touchline before the match

The Scottish manager has made a strong start to life back on Merseyside, though, with wins over Tottenham Hotspur and Brighton & Hove Albion in his first three matches.

Everton are in the market to add more quality to the group, despite the impressive results of late, and Southampton full-back Kyle Walker-Peters is one star who is reportedly on their radar.

The Toffees have also been linked with an interest in Brighton & Hove Albion youngster Evan Ferguson to add to their options at the top end of the pitch.

Brighton’s Ireland international is not the only attack-minded player on Everton’s list of targets, however, as the club are reportedly closing in on a deal for a new forward who could replace Abdoulaye Doucoure in the number 10 role…

Abdoulaye Doucoure's form this season

The Mali international has been a regular starter for the Toffees this season, with 19 starts in 20 Premier League appearances, but has failed to offer much in the way of quality at the top end of the pitch.

Doucoure has played more matches as an attacking midfielder than in any other role this term, yet the midfield dud is currently on zero goals, zero ‘big chances’ created, and zero assists in the top-flight.

Everton midfielder Abdoulaye Doucoure

The former Watford man, who did score seven goals in 32 matches last season in the Premier League, has simply not offered enough in the final third to make himself an influential figure for Everton.

Only Southampton (16) have scored fewer goals than the Toffees (19) in the division this season and that suggests that they need more quality from the players in the attacking areas of the pitch.

As you can see in the table above, Doucoure has directly contributed to more goals for the opposition (one) than he has for his own team (zero) and has struggled with the physicality of matches, losing the majority of his duels.

This is why Everton should be in the market to find a player with the ability to offer more in the final third as a second striker behind a starting number nine.

Everton closing in on Doucoure upgrade

According to Italian outlet Tuttosport, the Toffees are one step away from signing Hamza Igamane on a permanent deal from Scottish giants Rangers.

The report claims that the Premier League side are looking to finalise a deal for the Morocco U23 international before the January transfer window slams shut at the start of next week.

It states that they have identified the former FAR Rabat star as the ideal replacement for Dominic Calvert-Lewin, who suffered a hamstring injury against Brighton last time out, and are now moving in to wrap up a transfer for the Ibrox sensation.

Tuttosport adds that Everton are also willing to part ways with Portuguese centre-forward Beto, and that Serie A side Torino are willing to offer £15m to bring him back to Italy.

Meanwhile, TEAMtalk reported earlier this week that it would take a fee of £25m or more to sign Igamane from Rangers this month, because the Scottish Premiership outfit are reluctant to part ways with the forward midway through the season.

Transfer Focus

Tuttosport does not reveal how much the Toffees would pay for the striker, despite them closing in on a move, but recouping £15m for Beto could go some way to funding a deal for the Gers ace.

Whilst the report indicates that he could arrive at Goodison Park as a replacement for Calvert-Lewin in the centre-forward position, Igamane could be best suited to taking Doucoure’s place in the number ten or second striker role.

Why Hamza Igamane is way better than Abdoulaye Doucoure

Igamane has played the majority of the matches in his career as a centre-forward but he has also played as an attacking midfielder and as a wide player, which means that he is no stranger to operating behind a striker.

The 22-year-old dynamo was described as “fearless” and like “Morgan Rogers”, who plays as a second striker for Aston Villa, by analyst Ben Mattinson, which speaks to his suitability to play in a deeper position.

He may not have the physicality, given that the Moroccan ace has lost 65% of his duels in the Premiership, to lead the line as the sole striker in a Premier League team.

However, his performances for Rangers in the Premiership and the Europa League this season suggest that he does have the technical ability to come in and offer far more than Doucoure as an attacking threat in a number ten or second striker role.

Igamane is a dynamic, powerful, runner with the technical quality to make an impact at the top end of the pitch as both a scorer and a creator of goals.

As you can see in the table above, the Rangers superstar has racked up 13 goals and six ‘big chances’ created in just 16 starts in the Premiership and the Europa League combined.

These statistics show that he has been a consistent and reliable presence for Philippe Clement in the final third. whereas, Doucoure has offered next to nothing in the Premier League as an attacker.

Therefore, Igamane would come in as a way better option than the Mali international in the second half of the season, even if he could only translate half of his form for Rangers over to the Premier League, which is why the Gers man could be an excellent signing for Moyes.

Jurgen Klopp wants £25m+ Southampton ace as top priority in his new job

As Southampton continue to head towards an unwanted record in the Premier League, they’re reportedly in danger of losing their star man amid interest from Jurgen Klopp and RB Leipzig.

Southampton transfer news

Currently on six points, the idea of Premier League safety is merely a fantasy for Southampton and things couldn’t be much more bleaker even after attempting to turn things around by hiring Ivan Juric. Now in January, it wouldn’t be absurd to suggest that those at St Mary’s should be keeping one eye on Derby County’s infamous record for the lowest points total in Premier League history – reaching just 11 points in 2007/08.

They will, of course, be desperate to at least restore some pride in the remainder of the campaign to allow the Rams to keep hold of their history and avoid humiliation. The arrival of Albert Gronbaek could yet help on that front, with the Danish attacking midfielder arriving on loan in the hope of finally sharpening a blunt Southampton frontline.

Speaking to the club website for the first time, Gronbaek said: “I’m just so excited. It’s a big club and I think the playing style is suiting me very well, so I’m just very pleased to be here.

“The facilities are very good and the stadium looks incredible. It’s even bigger and better when you come in person, so I’m just so excited to play there. I’m proud to be here.”

Southampton must sell a flop who earns more than Walker-Peters & Fernandes

As one attacking star arrives, however, another could yet depart. According to Sky Sports Germany’s Philipp Hinze, RB Leipzig have now made Tyler Dibling one of their top priorities with the Saints only willing to sell for over €30m (£25m) this month.

What’s more, according to The Boot Room, Red Bull’s new Head of Global Soccer and former Liverpool manager Klopp wants to sign the Southampton star in one of his first moves in his new role for RB Leipzig and other Red Bull clubs.

Southampton must fend off interest in "brilliant" Dibling

If Southampton are to stand any chance of pulling off a miracle escape or at least avoiding unwanted history then keeping hold of Dibling is a must. The Saints, in the likely event of relegation, will likely have no choice but to part ways with such a talent. Until that day arrives, however, they should turn down the interest of Leipzig and Klopp.

Full of praise for the young winger before he was shown the door at St Mary’s, Russell Martin told reporters as relayed by Tribal Football: “Tyler was unfortunate not to play earlier because he had an amazing pre-season. So he has an incredible belief in himself in a really nice, humble and modest way.

“But he has to just keep living at 100 per cent and understand where that is and understand what’s got him this far. I think he has a brilliant support network with his family. He has a lot of trust from us and he has that back. It’s not always plain sailing with young players.”
