Australia’s injury worries continued on the second day in Melbourne, with David Warner unable to take the field during India’s innings after being hit while batting in the nets.Warner was struck on the right forearm while batting on the MCG practice wickets before play, and a Cricket Australia spokesperson said he had “significant bruising” which had limited his ability to field.Twelfth man Peter Siddle was on the field for Warner when India’s first innings began after tea, but it remained to be seen whether Warner would take the field on day three.”Hopefully Davey’s all right in the morning,” captain Steven Smith said. “He copped a hit in the nets today and he’s got a bruised arm. He was struggling to clench his fist. Hopefully he has a good sleep and feels better in the morning and can come out and field.”Warner entered the match with a sore left thumb, after being struck while batting during Australia’s chase in the second Test at the Gabba.Before the Boxing Day Test Warner said the thumb was causing him some pain and he would field at mid-off rather than his usual position at gully in an effort to protect the thumb. He was out for a six-ball duck in the first innings.The news of Warner’s injury came shortly after Cricket Australia confirmed that allrounder Mitchell Marsh will miss the fourth Test in Sydney after suffering a setback in his recovery from a hamstring injury.The Australians are already without captain Michael Clarke, whose hamstring problem has ruled him out of the remainder of the series, although he is hopeful of recovering in time for the World Cup.

ويعقد ديشامب اجتماعًا في شهر يناير مع رئيس الاتحاد الفرنسي لكرة القدم، نويل لو جرييه، من أجل حسم مستقبله إذا كان بالرحيل أو الاستمرار حتى كأس أمم أوروبا (يورو 2024) في ألمانيا أو حتى إلى كأس العالم 2026.

كان زيدان هو المرشح المفضل لخلافة ديشامب في تدريب فرنسا، ولكن هناك رغبة من الاتحاد المحلي باستمرار المدرب الحالي بعد وصوله إلى نهائي كأس العالم قطر 2022 رغم الخسارة من الأرجنتين بركلات الترجيح.

عندما خرجت بعض التقارير الصحفية التي تلمح لبقاء ديشامب، رفض زيدان السفر إلى قطر لمؤازرة فرنسا في نهائي كأس العالم، رغم دعمهم بالطبع على حساباته بمواقع التواصل الاجتماعي.

لذلك تؤكد الصحفية أن زيدان بدأ بالبحث عن نادٍ جديد ليعود إلى المستطيل الأخضر بعد غياب دام لمدة عام ونصف عقب رحيله من ريال مدريد في نهاية الموسم قبل الماضي.

كانت هناك رغبة من باريس سان جيرمان في الصيف للتعاقد مع زيدان، لكن المدرب الفرنسي الحاصل على 3 بطولات دوري أبطال أوروبا رفض لأنه لا يتوافق مع سياسة الملاك القطريين بقيادة، ناصر الخليفي.

بعيدًا عن باريس سان جيرمان، كان هناك اهتمام من مانشستر يونايتد وكان الفرنسي سيقبل في أكثر من مناسبة، لكنه لا يريد خوض مغامرة الدوري الإنجليزي في الوقت الحالي حتى لو كان يتقن اللغة الإنجليزية بشكل جيد.

Wellington finally won their first match in this season’s Ford Trophy, their first in five attempts, on the back of a century from Stephen Murdoch and a four-for from fast bowler Brent Arnel.Otago chose to bowl and struck an early blow before Murdoch combined with Michael Pollard to steady the innings. Pollard got a half-century and the pair added 79. The innings only gained momentum later on though, as the middle order joined Murdoch and went after quick runs. A couple of cameos in addition to Murdoch’s century meant Wellington got to a competitive 264 despite Neil Wagner’s excellent figures of 10-3-39-5.In the reply, it was Arnel who starred with the ball, taking three of his four wickets early on to leave Otago tottering at 56 for 4 in the 14th over. They never really recovered from there, the only innings of note coming from captain Aaron Redmond, who made 64.

They pride themselves on their fielding, and tonight they dropped two catches they would normally take nine times out of 10. Zaheer Khan got reprieved on nought, Harbhajan Singh on 12, and the duo carried India home. Something similar happened when they were batting: after recovering well from an average start, they slumped from 198 for 4 in 44.4 overs to 220 all out.Graeme Smith chose to focus on that period – during the end of an innings – that has hurt them the most in this series. “I think 220 gave us a chance. The wicket was very difficult to bat on, had sort of plates on it, and its two-paced nature made strokes very difficult. It also had up and down bounce,” he said. “[But] we were really hoping for 240. I think 240 would have been a really good total there. JP [Duminy] and [debutant] Faff du Plessis played well together to take us to a decent total [rescuing them from 90 for 4]. Our Powerplay was poor again, we lost JP and Faff within two overs, and we only got 19 overs in our last six overs.”I really felt if we got 240 we were in with a real good chance of winning the game. We came real close, we missed two crucial chances at the back end, but I can’t fault the guys’ commitment tonight, their intensity and the effort they gave.”The commitment was of course there, in the way Morne Morkel and Dale Steyn bowled, in the way they caught, Steyn off his own bowling and Morkel at third man. The Adelaide Oval hosted 27,425 people – a record for the opening match of a Big Bash League season – and they watched the Adelaide Strikers complete their first ever win over the Melbourne Stars, thrashing them by eight wickets.A brutal fifty from the Strikers’ wicketkeeper and opening batsman Tim Ludeman, the fastest in BBL history off only 18 balls, provided an explosive start to a chase of 148 and laid the platform for a comfortable victory for the home side. He was unbeaten on 92 off 44 balls when the game ended in the 13th over.A fifty of a very different nature from BBL-debutant Kevin Pietersen appeared to haul the Stars to a competitive total, but such thoughts were dashed by Ludeman’s power.The Stars, who elected to bat on a good pitch, lost their captain Cameron White for 6 in the fifth over. Although that was the only wicket to fall, they could only score 67 runs in the first 10 overs as a result of some good bowling and irregular shuffling of the attack. Luke Wright, who struck a four off his first ball, struggled to accelerate but his 37-ball 45 laid a platform for the Stars and also elevated him above Shaun Marsh to become the third-highest BBL run-scorer.The Stars briefly threatened in the 11th over when Pietersen, batting at three, wearing a helmet camera and miked up to the commentary box, hooked consecutive sixes off Kieron Pollard. Pietersen’s 66 of 44 balls was characterised by grit and evoked sharp memories of 10 years of international brilliance. However, wickets fell at regular intervals in the back 10 overs as the Stars spluttered their way towards 150.Glenn Maxwell, batting at four, was unfortunate to be given out caught behind. However, the couple of overs from part-timer Craig Simmons, bowling for the first time in T20 cricket, appeared to surprise the Stars and upset their rhythm. They managed only two double-digit overs and two double-figure scores between them – Wright and Pietersen – as their innings fizzled to a close.The Strikers slammed 23 and 20 off the third and fourth overs to get ahead of what could have been a tricky chase. Ludeman and his opening partner Simmons, thrashed 85 off the Powerplay, the highest in BBL history, blitzing eight fours and six sixes before the end of the sixth over.Simmons fell just before the end of the Powerplay for a 15-ball 30, caught well by Wright off the bowling off John Hastings, but the damage had been done. Ludeman continued his onslaught even as the fielders dropped back and the required rate dropped below four by the end of the ninth over. Travis Head came, saw, hit and went, before Ludeman’s clean and fearless striking saw the Strikers to victory with eight wickets in hand and 7.3 overs to spare.
