O início das competições estaduais de basquete se aproxima e há novidade nas quadras. A marca americana Spalding será parceira das Federações do Distrito Federal e de Goiás, cujos campeonatos começarão em breve. A empresa já havia firmado parceira com outras quatro federações no território brasileiro: Rio de Janeiro, Minas Gerais, Paraná e Espírito Santo

Segundo calendário da Federação do DF, no dia 7 de março haverá a abertura da temporada de 2020 com o “Festival de Mini Basquete – 1ª Etapa”. Já a primeira rodada do Campeonato do Distrito Federal está agendada para o dia 21 de março. Além delas, a Spalding possui parceria com outras quatro federações: Rio de Janeiro, Espírito Santo, Paraná e Minas Gerais.

Francisco Oliveira, presidente da Federação de Basquete do Distrito Federal, comemorou o acerto da parceria com a Spalding e contou um pouco como será a temporada do basquete local.

– Em 2020, a bola oficial do basquete do DF é Spalding. A Federação publicou seu calendário com as competições para este ano. Além dos campeonatos oficiais do basquete 5×5, que já começam em março, a programação traz o Tour Brasília 60 Anos de 3×3, em comemoração ao aniversário da cidade – explicou.

Quem também vibrou com a parceria com a Spalding foi Ely Toscano Pascoal, presidente da Federação de Goiás. Segundo o dirigente, o acerto fará com que a competição deste ano ganhe em qualidade dentro das quadras.

– A Federação Goiana de Basquetebol está muito contente com essa parceria com a Spalding, que é a melhor bola do mercado. E a federação preza por ter uma bola como as da Spalding, para que tenhamos um jogo melhor e com mais qualidade técnica. Tomara que essa parceria entre Federação Goiana e a Spalding dure muito tempo – disse o presidente.

Para as diferentes competições e categorias, serão usadas bolas específicas. Para os homens, será usada a TF Elite masculina tamanho 7. Já para as mulheres, a bola utilizada será a TF Elite feminina tamanho 6. Na modalidade 3×3, os atletas jogarão com a bola TF-33.

Para o clássico com Botafogo, nesta quarta-feira, o Fluminense terá mudanças. E uma delas é na distribuição dos jogadores. – A defesa a gente procura mexer o menos possível. O Renato já deu indícios de, dentro do que pensamos, ser o ideal. Agora, é dar continuidade. Vou dar uma sequência para esta dupla Henrique e Renato. É uma dupla que eu pensava desde o ano passado. Many Aston Villa fans are reacting to a tweet which reports on what goalkeeper Emiliano Martinez did following the 3-1 loss to West Ham on Wednesday.

Jesse Lingard scored a brace on his Hammers debut during the match. Both of his goals however were ones which Martinez will probably feel he should have saved, as he managed to get his hands on the ball both times

According to @greggevans and tweeted out by @villareport, the Argentinian goalkeeper called on a few of the forwards for additional time on the training pitch this week. This was due to the fact that he wasn’t happy with his performance in the defeat to West Ham. One fan called him a ‘great professional’ after hearing the news.

Martinez has probably won a lot of points for Villa this campaign, but he was right to not be happy with his performance in that particular match. Clearly, the extra training worked wonders as he put in a solid performance in the 1-0 victory against Arsenal on Saturday.

Liverpool transfer target Jadon Sancho showed that he’s well worth his significant price tag with an exceptional display against RB Leipzig last weekend.

The Borussia Dortmund winger has been linked with the Reds recently following a failed move to Manchester United during the summer transfer window and based on his recent performances for the Black and Yellows, he would surely prove to be a superb addition to Jurgen Klopp’s side, no matter the price.

As per SofaScore, the England international picked up a 9.5 rating for his performance against Leipzig on Saturday, which comfortably ranked him as the best player on the pitch.

During the 90 minutes Sancho, who reportedly earns £160,000-a-week, would score and assist, whilst 34/39 of his passes would find a Dortmund teammate.

He was also successful in 2/3 of his dribbles and won 4/5 of his duels during his time on the pitch, suggesting that he regularly had the better of the Leipzig defenders.

Perhaps most impressively, the former Manchester City man would play as many as seven key passes during the game, whilst also creating two big chances.

Considering how Liverpool have struggled in front of goal in recent Premier League fixtures, it could definitely be argued that they are missing someone of Sancho’s obvious quality, as he showed in his performance against a strong Leipzig side just how influential he can be in the attacking third.

Bayern Munich manager Hans-Dieter Flick has clearly been impressed with the impact Sancho has had since moving to the Bundesliga, as he sung his praises in 2020, saying:

“He is a great talent and has enormous qualities. That’s why you simply have to acknowledge that Dortmund has a very good player there.”

Therefore, even though the 20-year-old is currently valued at £90 million by Transfermarkt, Michael Edwards and the Liverpool board must consider bringing him to Anfield in the near future, as he has proved himself to be a world-class player in his time with Dortmund, having registered 40 goals and 54 assists in 119 appearances for the Bundesliga side.

Leeds United’s midfield was completely exposed against Norwich City on Saturday evening in the absence of Kalvin Phillips, and he proved to be a big miss.

Leeds’ 23-year-old defensive midfielder has predominantly operated as a central defender in recent weeks to cover for a handful of absentees amid a seemingly endless injury crisis.

The move into central defence has seen him hone in on the defensive quality he has consistently produced this season, with his goalscoring exploits from last season now representing something of a distant memory.

Indeed, Phil Hay has revealed a small sample of statistical information from Phillips’ form this term and pointed towards his lack of involvement in the final-third as an indicator of how significantly his role has changed, as per Yorkshire Evening Post.

Hay wrote: “Phillips will not automatically cure the problems with Leeds’ finishing – the deepness of his position is shown by the fact that having scored seven times last season, he is averaging less than a shot a game and has produced 12 key passes in total.”

The arrival of Bielsa has instigated a transformation in the way Phillips operates in midfield. The fact he scored seven times during the 2017/18 season illuminates the level of freedom he had to burst forward in a box-to-box role, but his current manager has forced him to make a big compromise.

Bielsa has typically asked him to operate in a water-carrier role in-front of the defensive unit, connecting the dots from deep while ensuring that the back-four are well prepared to stifle the opposition.

The positional tweak has seen his attacking influence diminish, with his return of 12 key passes averaging at less than 0.5 per game from his 27 appearances this season, as per WhoScored, while the fact he is yet to find the net under the Argentine speaks for itself.

In a sense, Phillips has been forced to compromise on his quality in the final-third to adapt to Bielsa’s demands, but it’s a compromise which has ultimately enhanced his reputation amongst plenty of supporters at Elland Road.

After watching Norwich tear through Leeds’ midfield on Saturday evening, it will be no great surprise if the 23-year-old is recalled to solidify his defensive unit against Middlesbrough.
