WHU: Fans react to Oxlade-Chamberlain link

Fans of West Ham United have taken to Twitter in reaction to reports of the Hammers’ interest in a summer move for Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain.

According to a report by Anfield Central, David Moyes’ side have approached Liverpool regarding a move for Oxlade-Chamberlain, with the Reds manager, Jurgen Klopp, said to be open to letting the midfielder leave Merseyside this summer, despite the 53-year-old’s preference that the midfielder remains at Anfield.

However, whether the England international will consider a move to the London Stadium is dependant on his desire for regular first-team football, as, at present, Klopp does not view the 27-year-old as a crucial part of the Liverpool starting XI, the report claims.

Although, after several West Ham news accounts relayed the report on Twitter, fans of the Hammers flocked to have their say on the matter, with many appearing to be firmly against the idea of their club making a move for Oxlade-Chamberlain this summer.

So, what exactly did these West Ham United fans have to say in reaction to the report regarding Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain?

“Another sick note, no thanks.”

@ANDAMA73x

“Pls no.”

@LukaSkaric2

“Doubt it. Wouldn’t get in the side.”

WBA: Fans react to Johnstone news

Fans of West Bromwich Albion have been reacting to a post on Twitter, which relayed a report regarding the potential sale of the Baggies goalkeeper, Sam Johnstone, this summer.

According to a report by The Athletic, Johnstone is determined to remain in the Premier League next season, be that with Sam Allardyce’s relegation-threatened side or another interested party, with West Ham United, Tottenham Hotspur and Leeds United all thought to be keen on the 28-year-old.

It is also reported that, should they indeed drop down to the Championship this summer, West Brom would be open to selling the shot-stopper, with a fee of between £7.5 million and £10 million mentioned by The Athletic as a realistic figure the Baggies would be demanding for a player of Johnstone’s age, profile and contract situation.

However, after WBA Report relayed this news on Twitter, fans of West Brom flocked to have their say on the matter, with many appearing furious at the prospect of losing the £5.4 million-rated ‘keeper for the amount quoted in the report.

So, what exactly did these West Bromwich Albion fans have to say in reaction to the report regarding Sam Johnstone?

“Typical West Brom. Selling a £20m player for £7m.”

@Hayden_K_R

“He’s worth at least £12-15m, especially having just had an England call up! Doesn’t make the stupid mistakes that Pickford makes and has been far better than Pickford and Henderson this season, IMO.”

@Baggieboy75Mike

“Poor contract management. Regardless of what anyone thinks, you shouldn’t let this contract situation arise.”

@JohnPerks58

“Same old story.”

@Jameswalt101

“Didn’t we sign him for £10m? Develop him to the point of and England call up and make a loss of £2.5m. Only Albion could do that.”

@jon_hughes82

“£7.5m for an England goalkeeper. Ha, hilarious.”

@AdKido44

“Albion business this. Pure nonsense. Buy high sell low.”

@HarryWbafc

“Only Albion would settle for £7.5m.”

Everton plot Bernard summer sale

Farhad Moshiri must sanction the sale of Everton outcast Bernard at the end of the season.

What’s the word?

According to the Liverpool Echo, Bernard is one of a clutch of first-team players who are facing uncertain futures at Goodison Park ahead of the summer transfer market.

The Toffees are expected to limit their activity in the off-season to the arrivals of two or three players, as Carlo Ancelotti strives to build on last year’s signings.

Work will also be done to trim the fringes of the squad with the removal of those currently operating below the required standard, and are prepared to sell striker Moise Kean for the right price amid interest from Paris Saint-Germain and Juventus.

The Merseyside future of Joshua King is also noted to be up in the air, while Bernard is expected to be sold after a January exit fell through.

Bernard was heavily linked with move to Al Nasr during the winter market, but a deal to join the United Arab Emirates outfit broke down on Deadline Day.

Reports by The Telegraph had suggested Everton valued Bernard at £9m in efforts to trim the club’s wage bill, although later claims by Fussball Transfers alleged that an agreement was reached over a loan that carried a €5m (£4.5m) obligation to buy.

Bernard has struggled to prove himself to Ancelotti since the closing of the winter market, with the 28-year-old playing only three times in Everton’s last nine Premier League games.

Should Everton sell Bernard?

Bernard has lived life on the fringes of Ancelotti’s plans all season, with the Brazilian only starting three Premier League fixtures and making a further six appearances from the bench.

Only three outfield players currently at Goodison Park have featured less often in the top-flight this term than Bernard, with his return of 393 minutes only greater than the 69 minutes given to Niels Nkounkou, 118 awarded to King and 212 Fabian Delph has played.

It has been no surprise that Ancelotti has often overlooked Bernard, even when Everton have been trailing in games, as the 14-cap maestro has only had a direct influence on the scoreline once when he scored in a 3-1 defeat to Manchester United.

His last Premier League assist came in January 2020 when Bernard set Kean up to open the scoring in a 2-2 draw with Newcastle United, some 22 appearances ago.

All the while, Bernard has been stealing a living at Goodison Park as Everton’s joint highest-earner with Yerry Mina on a £120,000-per-week contract, which has effectively seen Moshiri pay Bernard close to £1.1m for each start in the Premier League this term.

It has been 27 weeks since the Toffees kicked off their campaign with a 1-0 win over Tottenham Hotspur, seeing Bernard earn £3.25m in wages to take his total income since joining the Blues on a free transfer from Shakhtar Donetsk in 2018 to £16.5m.

Bernard would be due a further £8m in wages if he sees out the remaining 15 months of his contract, making it vital that Moshiri cuts both his, and Everton’s, losses this summer.

Sheffield Wednesday given Hutchinson boost

Sheffield Wednesday have been handed a massive boost this week…

What’s the latest?

Owls star Sam Hutchinson was pictured back in training after missing their south Yorkshire derby victory last weekend through injury.

The versatile 31-year-old, who can play in midfield and defence, was withdrawn early with a hamstring problem in Wednesday’s 1-1 draw with Huddersfield Town.

Speaking after the win over Barnsley just days later, Owls boss Darren Moore revealed why Hutchinson did not feature: “We didn’t want to risk him today and it was the right decision. Hopefully, he’ll be ready to go and get back into training next week.”

And that now seems to be the case.

Big boost

It may well be the international break, but clearly, it gives Moore a chance to welcome back some of his injured stars ahead of what will be the club’s biggest nine-game run in recent times.

The Owls are living perilously in 23rd position, some six points adrift of safety, though they do hold a one-game advantage over 21st-placed Birmingham City.

Wednesday return to action a week Friday when they head to north London to face promotion favourites Watford, and having a vastly-experienced player like Hutchinson back will be a big boost.

The veteran midfielder has been playing at centre-back in recent matches, mainly due to the mounting injury crisis at the club. The likes of Dominic Iorfa, Chey Dunkley, Joost van Aken and Liam Shaw have all been on the treatment table, as per YorkshireLive.

Hutchinson was part of the Owls side that achieved back-to-back playoff campaigns under Carlos Carvalhal and was brought back to the club in January to pull them out of the mire.

As Wednesday reporter Dom Howson put it perfectly on his return, ‘ Hutchinson is a leader and an organiser on the field. His passion, determination and never-say-die attitude is infectious and can rub off on team-mates.’

The 5 foot 11 “effective midfielder enforcer” clearly has a big part to play in these final few matches – after only 13 games back, he’s already their sixth-best rated player as per WhoScored.

Moore will surely be thrilled to see the “full-blooded” Hutchinson back in training ahead of a season-defining run.

O acordo com a Estrella Galicia causou polêmica dentro do Parque São Jorge, porque Fabio Rodrigue é associado do Corinthians e frequenta o clube. Após a pergunta sobre o assunto, Herbetta pediu para responder e rechaçou qualquer tipo de conflito.

– A lista de conselheiros do Corinthians é aberta e pública. Ele é sócio do Corinthians e frequentador, nada além disso – afirmou.

Shaw shouldn’t play for Sheffield Wednesday

Former Sheffield Wednesday midfielder Carlton Palmer has revealed he is not keen to see one man carry on starting at his old club, in an exclusive interview with Football FanCast.

Liam Shaw recently agreed to join Celtic when his contract at Hillsborough expires in the summer and manager Darren Moore has since come out to make it clear that the 20-year-old is still in his plans for the rest of the season.

Palmer, though, does not like the idea of a player who already has one foot out of the door still being an integral part of the team, concerned about the level of commitment that will still be present.

Discussing the matter in an exclusive interview with FFC, the retired Premier League footballer said:

“It’s a problem, I’ve always said that. I said when you sign a pre-contract for a club, you might as well go at that point. You’ve got a big-money move coming up, you’re not going to want to get yourself injured, you’re not going to put yourself on the line – Darren Moore needs everybody who’s committed to the club.”

Speaking on the subject further, Palmer added:

“As far as I’m concerned, anybody that signs a pre-contract, from the time they sign it, effectively they should leave the club. It always happens, they’re not going to be fully committed to the job.”

It is little surprise that Celtic are already planning for next season and have moved for Shaw, with the Glasgow club’s current campaign virtually over.

After falling well short in the title race this time round, they are in need of a rebuild, meaning more additions like Shaw are likely. As well as that, the Bhoys, of course, will also be in the market for a new manager following Neil Lennon’s resignation last month.
