O Corinthians deixa os Estados Unidos após a goleada por 4 a 1 sobre o Vasco e empate sem gols com o São Paulo, com derrota por 4 a 3 nos pênaltis na final da Florida Cup. Os dois jogos disputados no torneio de pré-temporada foram suficientes para o técnico Fabio Carille observar o elenco e definir o esquema tático da equipe.

O treinador alvinegro exaltou a participação do Timão na Florida Cup, principalmente por conta do pouco tempo de trabalho. Além disso, Carille valorizou a qualidade dos adversários.

– Foi muito positiva a participação aqui, jogamos contra Vasco e São Paulo, que iniciaram os trabalhos antes que a gente (dia 2 e dia 4, respectivamente, enquanto o Corinthians apresentou-se dia 11). Saio daqui com as coisas mais claras e convictas. Tem duas semanas para a estreia no Campeonato Paulista, e estamos no caminho certo – analisou.

– Deu para definir a forma de jogar. O plano A vai ser 4-1-4-1, com plano B sendo o 4-2-3-1. Temos jogadores que entraram muito bem, outros que já iniciaram muito bem. O importante é isso: a competição entre o elenco para que eleve o nível da equipe – completou Carille.

Dos 30 jogadores que foram aos Estados Unidos, apenas o goleiro Diego, os volantes Jean e Ameixa, o meia Rodrigo Figueiredo e os atacantes Mendoza, Luidy e Bruno Paulo não entraram em campo. Dos atletas utilizados, inclusive os reforços que estrearam, Carille gostou do que viu e disse acreditar em evolução com mais treinamentos.

– A gente já sabe aonde eles podem chegar, e estão evoluindo bastante. O Fellipe Bastos estreou agora, outros já haviam estreado contra o Vasco. Com o tempo eles vão entender a forma de jogar, o que é o Corinthians. Com poucos treinos, o resultado foi muito positivo mesmo – afirmou.

O Corinthians embarca para o Brasil na noite deste domingo, com chegada prevista para as 8h de segunda-feira. Antes da estreia no Paulistão, Carille terá mais um teste: contra a Ferroviária, dia 1º de fevereiro, na Arena.

– Acho que será um jogo importante. Temos que trabalhar bastante. Nossa estreia no Paulistão será no dia 4 de fevereiro, então colocarei um time em cada tempo diante da Ferroviária – revelou o treinador.

West Ham ran out of steam in the race for a Champions League spot but considering they were fighting against relegation last season, it is a monumental turnaround that David Moyes has masterminded at the London Stadium.

There have been reports that Lingard is wanting to earn £100,000 per week if he is to sign for West Ham this summer on a permanent basis, which could prove to be a stumbling block if Moyes wants to spread his transfer budget out.

It would be a huge blow for the Hammers if they couldn’t afford to bring the current £75,000 per week midfielder back to the club this summer, and that could be the unfortunate reality according to Windass who spoke exclusively to Football FanCast:

“I can’t see him back at West Ham because listen, we all want £100,000 per week and a four-year contract. So yeah, I can see him back at Man United.

“I can’t see West Ham paying that sort of money because he might be a flash in the pan and if they give him £100,000 a week and a four-year deal but then end up in a relegation battle next year, that could ruin the club.”

It will be a huge summer for West Ham as they will undoubtedly have to bat away a lot of interest in Declan Rice, especially if he performs well at the Euros for England.

Moyes will know that he must add to his squad this summer as injuries almost derailed their season this year and with the added fixtures because of the Europa League their squad will have to increase in size.

Enfim, vocês já sabem, e o torcedor entende o que negociações desse tamanho demandam tempo e discussões dos detalhes.

-O ponto positivo é que é um desejo do treinador e um desejo do Flamengo. Agora começou. Eram muitas decisões, Recopa, Supercopa, Taça Guanabara, e agora acho que é uma boa hora para conversarmos. Quanto tempo vai levar? Se eu desse um prazo estaria mentindo. As grandes discussões de contrato, do mais alto nível, demandam tempo mesmo – emendou.

As conversas foram iniciadas, principalmente, entre Marcos Braz, vice-presidente de futebol, Spindel e o agente de Jesus,Bruno Macedo. Spindel: ‘Espero que ele (Jesus) fique. Vamos fazer todo esforço para isso, e acho que ele fará também’

E importante: hoje, não há plano B. Ou seja, é Jesus ou Jesus para o Flamengo.

A entrevista completa, com outros temas, irá ao ar nesta terça-feira. A respeito de Jorge Jesus, todas as respostas de Bruno Spindel estão abaixo. Confira:

O empresário trouxe alguma proposta de fora por ele?
– Qualquer proposta que o treinador receba é uma coisa dele. Respeitamos. Acontece com o atleta, com todos, mas não chegou nada até nós. O que queremos é continuar a discussão para renovar o contrato dele.

As conversas, inicialmente, são apenas com o agente?
– É de conceito primeiro, com o agente. Na verdade, a primeira coisa para começar a conversa é o clube demonstrar interesse e ele demonstrar o interesse. E isso já ocorreu. Depois, discute-se o conceito e, aí, vamos para as discussões mais concretas, dos detalhes do contrato, como cláusulas e valores.

Do clube, o desejo é pela renovação até o fim do mandato do presidente Rodolfo Landim (dezembro de 2021)?
– O desejo do clube é renovar até dezembro de 2021. Do treinador, o desejo é ganhar tudo aqui. Aliás, são três coisas: o desejo de ganhar tudo; a relação e a admiração mútua dele com os atletas, pois, além do trabalho, tem um carinho, uma relação emocional entre eles; e a estrutura que o clube, com seus profissionais, presidente, Marcos (Braz), conselho de futebol, toda área do futebol, departamento médico, scout, o proporciona. Esses são fatores que fazem com que ele queira ficar. Isso é importante. E, obviamente, a paixão do torcedor. A relação que ele construiu… foi abraçado por todo mundo.

Essa relação com a torcida é o principal trunfo do Flamengo nesta negociação?
– Tudo conta, mas quem pode dizer melhor é ele. A idolatria, além dos resultados, vem pelo cuidado que ele tem com o torcedor. O cuidado de se conectar com o DNA Rubro-Negro, de querer vencer sempre, passar por cima das dificuldades, de se conectar com o torcedor, entender que fazemos tudo por eles e jogar “à Flamengo”, como falamos aqui. Tudo isso o conecta com o torcedor. E ele tem uma preocupação enorme em tudo que faz em relação à torcida, com quem tem uma paixão grande.

Independente do desfecho desta negociação, o legado de Jorge Jesus já ficará no dia a dia do futebol do Flamengo, certo?
– Queremos muito que ele fique. Espero que ele fique. Vamos fazer todo esforço para isso, e acho que ele fará também. Realmente, acho que há vários legados, desde a rápida adaptação dele a questões que fomos adaptando no quesito estrutural. Gramado, estrutura para ele fazer os treinos de sala, os treinos com os atletas, logística… Ele ajudou muito, Ainda existe a forma de jogar e de se relacionar com os atletas. O Marcos (Braz) fala muito isso, que é esse Flamengo agressivo é o que o torcedor deseja e sonha. É o que nós (diretoria) também desejamos e sonhamos, querendo vencer tudo de forma imponente, de fazer um gol e querer mais, perder a posse de bola e pressionar para recuperar rápido. Isso é o que todo rubro-negro espera ver dentro de campo: um time intenso e aplicado buscando a vitória a todo tempo. Há todos esses legados. Tem outro legado dele que é o patamar que o clube está alcançando. O Pablo Marí é um exemplo desse patamar. Muita gente tinha receio de voltar da Europa, ou vir da Europa para o Brasil, ficar longe dos centros mais ricos e das grandes vitrines do futebol mundial. Gerson, Rafinha, Gabriel (Barbosa), Filipe Luís… todos jogadores que vieram da Europa e estão no nível que estão. O Pablo estava no La Coruña e teve um sucesso enorme aqui, nos ajudou demais nas conquistas e teve a porta aberta no Arsenal, um dos maiores times da liga mais rica de futebol do mundo, a mais desenvolvida. Era uma coisa que, até pouco tempo atrás, era impensável. Um jogador vir da Espanha, na idade do Pablo (26 anos), e depois abrir uma porta no maior centro, até em termos de valores.

Caso não haja um acordo pela renovação de Jorge Jesus, o Flamengo trabalha com algum plano B?
– Não. Nosso foco todo é para renovar o contrato do Jorge.

Pelas entrevistas, Jorge Jesus deixa claro que o Mundial está engasgado. Sente isso no dia a dia, e entre os atletas também? E isso pode contar a favor da permanência do Mister?
– Ficou engasgado para todo mundo. Todo mundo! Tudo conta, e ele (Jesus) quer ser campeão mundial. Todos jogadores querem. Outro legado dele, e dos maiores, é que as conquistas são as maiores coisas que você pode conseguir no futebol. Parece óbvio, mas as conquistas coletivas geram benefícios para todo mundo. Ele colocar isso na cabeça de todos é um legado: que todos busquem o mesmo objetivo e o que cada um pode fazer para o grupo ser o mais forte possível. Todos os atletas e funcionários são focados, obstinados em títulos. O negócio aqui é correr atrás de todos os títulos.

O fato de a vitória sobre o Liverpool ter sido palpável deixa a frustração mais evidente?
– Foi muito palpável, e é um sonho de todo mundo. As pessoas falam que “o Flamengo chegou no topo” e que “o difícil é se manter no topo”. O Flamengo não chegou no topo. O que todos queremos é muito mais do que foi conquistado em termos de performance, de recordes que batemos e de conquistas que foram atingidas. Podemos atingir tudo isso de forma recorrente. Esse grupo já escreveu o nome na história do Flamengo. Agora, tem a oportunidade de escrever na história do futebol, dependendo do que conquistarem daqui para frente. Todos têm isso na cabeça. Todos sabem o que vem pela frente. O grupo deu o primeiro passo, está na história do Flamengo, e pode escrever o nome na história de futebol.

Essa questão dos recordes e metas a serem alcançadas é levada ao vestiário pelo Jorge Jesus?
– Não vou falar sobre preleção e treino, são coisas internas, mas é (levada ao vestiário). Tudo que deixa o grupo no objetivo das conquistas está sempre na mente de todos. Mas o foco é sempre nos títulos e na preparação para o próximo jogo. Você só chega lá dando um passo atrás do outro. Você pode perguntar para qualquer atleta que ele, sempre, falará do próximo jogo. É outra mentalidade vencedora que ele (Jorge Jesus) trouxe. O que faz o processo de ser campeão é vencer um jogo depois do outro, por mais que pareça clichê.

Tottenham Hotspur’s manager search continues to rumble on into a second month.

Plenty of names have been linked to the vacancy during that time, though this week, Daniel Levy has been given a major boost over one mooted target.

Antonio Conte has left Serie A champions Inter Milan just a few weeks after clinching their first title in over a decade, opening the door for Spurs to strike if he’s a genuine candidate.

It has since been revealed that the former Chelsea boss would be interested in taking the job in North London, according to the Guardian.

Football FanCast have delved into the potential world of an Conte-led Spurs side next season, here’s how the XI could look, with a bit of help in the transfer market…

There are plenty of interesting storylines that could emerge at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium this off-season, largely because Harry Kane wants out.

Truth be told, whoever is in charge next term, he will need substantial backing in the transfer market to turn around their fortunes, so it is plausible that the club cash in on their leading talisman, in order to fund an overhaul.

Levy is under pressure to get this appointment right and the £150m sale of Kane would help matters, as bold as it sounds.

Conte’s renowned for his three-at-the-back system and that could pay dividends in England as it has done before, considering he’s won the Premier League and FA Cup at Stamford Bridge.

Goalkeeper: Lloris

Club captain Hugo Lloris still has one year to run on his current deal and is said to be in talks over an extension, so he is likely to remain Spurs’ no.1 for the foreseeable future, though a new third-choice may be needed after Paulo Gazzaniga’s exit was confirmed this week.

Defence: Reguilon, Andersen, Alderweireld, Skriniar, Celik

It could be all change in defence as this has been the one Achilles’ heel of Jose Mourinho’s tumultuous reign. As explained by The Athletic, mistakes at the back have been the defining theme of Spurs’ abysmal season.

Joe Rodon doesn’t appear to be ready, whilst Eric Dier and Davinson Sanchez are the root cause of most of these errors, so both are axed. It means Toby Alderwerield is the only to survive from this term.

It’s thought that Fulham loan star Joachim Andersen favours a move to the North London giants this summer, and he could be clinched for £25m, whilst long-time target Milan Skriniar was a frequent and popular presence under Conte at the San Siro.

Perhaps Levy can finally seal the tough-tackling centre-back with the arrival of the Italian. He could command around €70m (£60m), as per Calciomercato (via Football Italia).

Sergio Reguilon could benefit most from the change in the system, as he thrived in a similar role on his way to Europa League glory at Sevilla, where they beat Conte’s side in the final last year.

Whilst Matt Doherty and Serge Aurier seemingly have no future at the club, Levy could look to bring in Zeki Celik from Ligue 1 champions Lille, a £13.5m-rated player they have been linked with recently.

Midfield: Hojbjerg, Ndombele

The midfield pretty much writes itself barring any major changes, though the likes of Dele Alli, Moussa Sissoko and Harry Winks may find it hard to feature.

Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg and Tanguy Ndombele are a good mix both defensively and in attack, and they will need to do the bulk of the box-to-box work, given it’s just those two in the engine room.

Attack: Son, Belotti, Bergwijn

Levy will find it hard to properly replace Kane but he could do so in a player that Conte should know well from the Serie A, Andrea Belotti.

The prolific 27-year-old will be entering the final year of his contract at Torino, so could be available for a lot cheaper than expected, and he has been linked with interest from Spurs in the past, too.

Corriere dello Sport (via Manchester Evening News) believe that price tag may be as little as €25m (£21.5m).

All in all, Levy may well go on a summer spending spree, splashing out a whopping £120m, with around £30m left remaining, should they get what they deserve for Kane.

Leicester City could save themselves millions this summer by gifting Kamal Sowah a chance in the first-team.

What’s the story?

The 21-year-old midfielder has spent the last three-and-a-half seasons with the Foxes’ sister club OH Leuven, impressing throughout 2020/21.

King Power-owned Leuven finished 11th on their return to the Belgian First Division, with Sowah catching the eye after bagging eight goals and providing six assists.

Rodgers could save millions

The versatile Ghanaian has been training with Leicester’s first team at their training base in Seagrave since the season’s conclusion, allowing Brendan Rodgers to assess the youngster first hand.

Sowah started all 34 top-flight fixtures for Leuven in 2020/21, playing a variety of different positions, including the No.10 role and as a winger on either flank.

His form earned the praise of ex-teammate Thomas Henry back in 2019, with the striker waxing lyrical over Sowah’s quality and potential.

“It is good that he is building up more and more confidence. He certainly has the right mentality,” Henry revealed.

“I am happy that I can play with him. His position is good, he can be decisive. He is a very complete player.”

With Leicester narrowly missing out on a place in the Premier League’s top four following a final day defeat at home to Tottenham Hotspur, the Midlands outfit already appear to be making good progress in the transfer market.

Lille’s highly-rated box-to-box midfielder Boubakary Soumare is reportedly close to completing an £18 million move to the King Power Stadium, while Celtic’s Odsonne Edouard is also thought to be on the club’s radar.

Therefore, bringing Sowah into the fold could be beneficial to the Foxes in more ways than one.

Not only would he provide Rodgers with cover and competition for places in multiple positions, he would also allow the Northern Irish manager to focus Leicester’s relatively modest resources on their key transfer targets.

Players such as Dan James have previously been linked with the 2016 English champions as the former Liverpool boss looks to add strength-in-depth, but the answer to that particular problem may already be at the club in the shape of Sowah.

Sheffield Wednesday have been dealt a huge blow to their chances of landing Reece James this summer.

What’s the talk?

That’s according to a report by the Sheffield Star, who claim that, following the Owls’ relegation to the third tier of English football, a deal for the 27-year-old Doncaster Rovers left-back will now be a great deal harder to get over the line for Wednesday.

The report goes on to state that Doncaster are extremely keen to keep the £540k-rated man at the Keepmoat Stadium this summer, and have subsequently offered James a new deal, with the defender’s current contract set to expire next month.

Moore will be gutted

If a move for James is indeed scuppered by Wednesday’s relegation to League One, it will undoubtedly come as gutting news for Darren Moore, who knows the left-back incredibly well – with the 47-year-old having managed him during his own spell at Doncaster.

Indeed, considering how well the left-back performed for Rovers last season, it would indeed appear as if he would have been an exceptional signing for the Owls ahead of their campaign in the third tier.

Over the £3.7k-per-week man’s 43 League One appearances last term, he scored seven goals, registered two assists and created two big chances, as well as making an average of one interception, 1.7 tackles and 0.9 key passes per game, culminating in an average SofaScore match rating of 6.95 – ranking him as the club’s fourth-best performer in League One.

As such, with Moore having to rebuild his Wednesday side from the bare bones this summer – as 17 of the Owls’ first-team players are on contracts that expire in the coming weeks – the addition of a player who has excelled at League One level, who the manager knows extremely well and who could be available on a free transfer would have been something of a jackpot for the club.

However, there does still remain a chance of Moore convincing James – whom the Wednesday manager himself dubbed an “adaptable” player – of a move, but he will have to do so extremely in order to stop any other interested sides snapping the 27-year-old up.
